INTERIORS J'ADORE

Hygge Happiness

While I am definitely a summer person, there’s nothing quite like cold, snowy winter days spent in your cosy home and after being away for some months we enjoyed coming (and being) home more than ever. On days like these we love to hang out in Tilly’s room all day long to play and read books and watch the world go by outside the windows. On days like these pants are optional for Tilly and I wear my old, beloved cashmere jumper and matching pants, which is probably the most ‚unpresentable‘ outfit I own, but by far my comfiest. Our very own idea of Hygge. Often these days are very ordinary, normal, almost uneventful, yet so very necessary and needed when you spend a lot of your time travelling abroad like us. And they almost always end up with a long bath. For both of us.

Hygge is a danish word used to acknowledge a special feeling or moment. It can be alone or with friends, at home or out, ordinary or extraordinary but is always cosy, charming or special. Hygge literally only requires a conscious appreciation, a certain slowness, and the ability to not just be present – but recognize and enjoy the present.‘

Here are some things that make Tilly’s room extra comfy and cosy at this time of the year:

The adorable belly basket just arrived in time for Christmas from Vienna handmade via by Pom Pom Baby. I love the choice of muted colours in the pom poms that work so perfectly within M’s room and anyone whos been following me for a while know how much j’adore anything personalized.

Tilly’s ‚future‘ bed (she sleeps in toddler version of this cot next to our bed) is by Stokke and the super soft and cuddly Nooshi blanket comes all the way from Switzerland. The crochet animals are handmade by my mum (you can find the instructions here), from Jellycat, Petit Stellou or my own very old and very, very loved ones. The sparkly wall hangings add so much atmosphere to her little space (and go so wonderfully with the soft blush pink colour from Farrow & Ball) and you can find lots of lovely designs here and here.

Bathtime is still M’s favorite time of the day (she is such a water baby) and we take the Body & Hair Wash from  Austrian brand Alma on all our travels with us and use it on almost a daily basis at home. It’s the only product I have ever used on my baby girl’s skin (and hair, which seems to be getting longer by the day) and I couldn’t recommend it any more! We just received the Baby Oil to try as well and I have to admit I love it so much I have started to use an few drops in my own bath once Tilly is asleep.
